The Executive Council (EC) is the Executive organ of the Centre. It serves at the orders of the Board of Trustees and the general membership of the Centre. Its members are appointed by the Founder/President of the Foundation and they comprise a mixture of high level professionals, intellectuals and individual experts, carefully selected with the aim of achieving balance in terms of geography, technical expertise and prominence.
The Executive Council directs, regulates and administers the general affairs of the Centre in accordance with its constitution and bye-laws. Run as a collective it executes the resolutions passed by the Board of Trustees, govern the affairs of the Centre and implements its work in the most efficient way. The EC also facilitates decision making in between Council meetings or in the case of a crisis or other urgent circumstances.
The Founder/President acts as the Chief Executive Officer of the Centre, presides over all meetings of the Executive Council, supervises all the business and affairs of the Centre, give direction and inertia to the formulation and achievement of the Centre’s philosophy, mission, strategy, objectives and goals. He serves as the primary spokesperson for the Centre and represents the Centre and its members to other organizations, the industry, government and public agencies, the media and the public. The President develops relationships with key senior executives throughout the business community in Africa to maximize the awareness of the Centre’s values and to maintain and increase sponsorship opportunities. He is assisted by two Vice-Presidents and an Executive Director.
